Car Crash Through South End Rite Aid Front Door Forces Temporary Closure

A car reportedly veered out-of-control in the Mercer Village Shopping Center parking lot and rammed through the front door of the business.

A car crashed through the front door of the South End Rite Aid Monday morning, temporarily closing the store.

A Mercedes-Benz, CLR 320 Sport Convertible crashed into the store front after the driver apparently lost control. No injuries were reported in the accident. KIRO 7 News first reported the accident occurred at around 10:45 a.m.

According to the Mercer Island Reporter, no information was available about the circumstances of the accident, but the store will re-open on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The South End Rite Aid store has suffered damage from car accidents in recent years. A car also crashed through the store's exterior wall in June 2012, causing minor damage to the building. The 87-year-old woman driving the Lexus RX300 at the time said she accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes, causing the accident.
