Fire Department Limits Damage at North End Home

Quick response to blaze limited damages to approximately $1,000.

The following information was provided by the City of Mercer Island:

The morning of December 4, the Mercer Island Fire Department (MIFD) responded to reports of smoke from a North Mercer Island residence. NORCOM Dispatch, the centralized dispatching service utilized by MIFD, reported a 911 call from neighbors and noted smoke was also visible from I-90. The first fire units arrived at the waterfront home within 4 minutes and located a fire in a swimming pool mechanical room in the back yard.

Three fire engines and one battalion unit with ten personnel responded to the call. The fire was extinguished by the first arriving engine within minutes. The fire did not spread to the residence and damage sustained to the mechanical room is estimated to be approximately $1,000. The house was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.
