Man Claims East Seattle Resident Held Him at Gunpoint in Assault — Mercer Island Police Blotter

The following information from Oct. 17-24 was supplied by the Mercer Island Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Seattle man told Mercer Island Police on Monday that he was physically restrained and beaten by residents of a home he was staying at in the East Seattle neighborhood.

The 25-year-old victim said he was attacked on the morning of Oct. 22 and was physically restrained against his own will while he was staying at a residence on the 3000 block of 67th Ave. SE. A 42-year-old resident of the home allegedly threatened the man with a gun as he beat him.

The victim was eventually let go and contacted a WSDOT worker who called 9-1-1 at 8:15 a.m. According to MIPD Det. Peter Erickson, the alleged victim is no longer cooperating with the investigation.

"It was some individuals involved in some narcotics activity, and they had a dispute," said Erickson. "No charges are being filed because of the veracity of the allegations ... To be blunt, we don't know what to believe."

The man said he originally met the homeowners in Seattle.

I'll be a bit more direct than Jerry. The new site is a mess. Visually it's extremely cluttered.Read More It's slow, very slow. There appear to be no RSS feeds, a major negative. Following a few links sometimes sends you to a different community's Patch site. And what happened with the editing staff. Unless I missed something, suddenly there are new editors without any warning. No matter what the circumstances, normally such a move would be accompanied by an announcement of some sort. Venice may be the greatest editor ever, but it looks like she is splitting her time among several Patch sites, so the odds are stacked against her. Her "latest activities" list even suggests that she is editing a Patch site down in the San Francisco Bay area. With all due respect, Patch sites should be hyper-local, and the best route to that is a local (i.e. Mercer Islander) editor.
