MIPD Announces Top Cops for 2010

The annual awards ceremony was held March 11 to recognize Officer of the Year, Support Employee of the Year and Supervisor of the Year, among others.

According to a press release, the (MIPD) selected winners of their annual Officer, Support Employee and Supervisor of the Year Awards at a ceremony Friday, March 11. The ceremony recognizes the outstanding work by some of the Island's finest.

"The award is voted on by their peers in the department from a group of candidates," said MIPD spokesperson Cmdr. Leslie Burns. "It's a nice award to get because of that."

The 2010 award winners are:

  • Officer David Herzog; Officer of the Year
  • Sgt. Ryan Parr; Supervisor of the Year
  • Kelly Donnelly; Support Employee of the Year

Commander award winners:

  • Officer Scott Shroeder; Commander Award
  • Officer Todd Wilson; Commander Award
  • Sgt. Jeff Magnan; Commander Award

Special recognition was awarded to Detective Sgt. Marc Marcroft, Lead Detective Pete Erickson, Detective Todd Roggenkamp and School Resource Officer Chad Shumacher.

The press release also stated that special recognition was given to other city staff and an Island resident. Staff receiving recognition include three members of the City's Finance Department: Chip Corder, Finance Director; Francie Lake, Deputy Finance Director; and LaJuan Tuttle, Accounting Manager.

The Citizen Award for Special Appreciation by the MIPD went to Beth Cordova for her assistance with the emergency preparedness program.
