Police Blotter: $20k in Jewelry Stolen From Local Home

The following information from March 23-26 was supplied by the Mercer Island Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

March 23

Jewelry stolen from private residence

A couple living on 90th Avenue Southeast and contacted police after they returned home and discovered that approximately $20,000 in jewelry had been stolen from their residence. It is believed that the suspects entered through an unsecured door in the garage.Β 

Man arrested for driving with a suspended license

A 33-year-old Mercer Island man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over for speeding. The man was also found to not have a required breath interlock device installed on his car.

Tree stolen from backyard

A woman living on Southeast 78th Place contacted polcie after she discovered that a small Japanese maple tree had been stolen from her backyard. The tree was valued at approximately $700.

Attempted identity theft

A man living on Southeast 72nd Place contacted police after he was informed that someone had opened a credit card account in his name and was attempting to make a purchase.

March 25

Items stolen from shared garage

An automatic garage door opener, stereo equipment and a set of aftermarket vehicle rims were stolen from a garage that was left open overnight at a condominium on Southeast 33rd Place. The items belonged to three different tenants who were sharing the garage. The items were valued at approximately $2,300.

March 26

Stolen vehicle recovered

Police recovered a stolen vehicle at the Mercer Apartments. The registered owner had the vehicle towed back to Issaquah.
