Police Blotter: Car Stolen From Home, Argument Over Parking and More

The following information from Nov. 15 - Nov. 21 was supplied by the Mercer Island Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Nov. 15

House Burglarized, Car Stolen

A couple living on 82nd Ave. Southeast contacted police after their home was burglarized. Various items were stolen from the residence and their vehicle was taken from the garage. Seattle Police later recovered the vehicle. Police submitted photographs of the scene and fingerprints into evidence.

Child Possibly Abused

An employee at a gas station on Southeast 68th Street contacted police after witnessing a possible case of child abuse on Nov. 12.

Nov. 16

Wrought Iron Gate Vandalized

A woman living on 70th Ave. Southeast contacted police after discovering that the wrought iron gate at the entrance of her driveway had been vandalized after a lock box was ripped off and a key was stolen. The crime had occurred a week and a half earlier.

Nov. 17

Kansas Man Arrested During Traffic Stop

Police arrested a 17-year-old male following a traffic stop on North Mercer Way. During the stop it was discovered that the male had a warrant out of Kansas and was arrested. A second teen in the car was listed as a runaway and was transported to the Mercer Island Police Department. Police also discovered a marijuana smoking device in the car, a pill grinder, and a bottle of beer.

Man and Woman Argue Over parking Space

Police were dispatched to the on Southeast 27th Street following a report of a disturbance over a parking space. When police arrived they found that a woman had used abusive language towards a man because he had parked in her assigned space. The woman had also parked her car behind his vehicle and left it un-attended for approximately 10 minutes. Police issued the woman a citation for disorderly conduct.

Nov. 18

Possible Identity Theft

A woman living Southeast 60th Street contacted police after discovering that fraudulent charges had been made on her juvenile son’s checking account. The woman believed that her son’s identity and credit card information had been stolen.

Nov. 19

Man Wanted on Mercer Island Arrested in Tukwila

A 30-year-old man wanted on a Mercer Island warrant was arrested by Tukwila Police, transferred into the custody of the and booked into Issaquah Jail

Woman Arrested for Driving with Suspended License

Police arrested a 41-year-old Seattle woman for driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop on 77th Ave. Southeast. The woman was cited and later released at the scene.

Delusional Woman Committed

Police involuntarily committed a 60-year-old Mercer Island woman after she stopped taking her medication and became delusional and aggressive. She was transported to Swedish Hospital.

Nov. 21

Car Broken Into Near Elementary School

 A man contacted police after discovering that his vehicle had been broken into and his girlfriend’s purse was stolen from the front seat while the vehicle was parked at .
