Police Blotter: Police Nab Two in Luther Burbank Car Prowl

Police Blotter (March 12-20): Police arrested two South Seattle men after two witnesses reportedly saw them break into a car at Luther Burbank Park.

Police are investigating two men arrested Sunday, March 20 for a car break-in at and possibly others.Β 

According to two unnamed witnesses, the pair allegedly broke into a Ford Escape parked in the south lot at Luther Burbank Park at around 1:40 p.m. and took several items from inside the car. The Seattle men, ages 25 and 26, then tried to leave the area in a green Geo Metro with another woman passenger when they were stopped by police.

Following a search of the vehicle and suspects, investigators found a "metal window punch tool" in the pocket of one of the men and a shard of auto glass lodged in his sweatshirt. A missing purse and other accessories were also found in their possession. The stolen items were later returned to a Maple Valley woman who owned the vehicle.

The two men were arrested on unrelated charges and held pending investigation of vehicle prowling. Β

(Vehicle Prowl) Several items were allegedly stolen from a Honda Pilot broken into at around 11 a.m. in front of a residence on the 4000 block of 78th Avenue SE. The owner, a 56-year-old Salem, Ore. woman, claimed someone had taken a computer case and a laptop computer inside.

Monday, March 14

(Informational Report) A 29-year-old Seattle woman jogging through at around 6:21 p.m. when she discovered a bag of "green organic material," suspecting it was marijuana. Police took the bag and placed it into evidence to be destroyed.

Wednesday, March 16

(Warrant Arrest) A police patrol stopped a Buick Le Sabre for a broken taillight at 9:08 p.m. on the 7800 block of North Mercer Way. Investigating officers discovered the Lynnwood resident, 45, was driving on a suspended license and a Mountlake Terrace arrest warrant. She was subsequently detained and transferred to Mountlake Terrace Police.

Thursday, March 17

(Harassment) Police re-arrested a resident of the for threatening another man following . The suspect, 49, allegedly threatened to kill another resident with a knife at 11:19 p.m. after damaging his room and smashing a dinner plate.

Friday, March 18

(Traffic Offenses) A police patrol pulled over a Subaru Forester on the eastbound on-ramp to Interstate 90 at 7:13 a.m. on suspicion of driving on a suspended license. The Seattle woman, 27, was arrested and later released to a friend.

Saturday, March 19

(Vandalism) Police were contacted at 12:26 a.m. by a man who witnessed two people jumping out of a sedan and "bashing mailboxes" on the 6100 block of West Mercer Way. A 51-year-old resident's mailbox was found damaged and the vehicle was last seen driving southbound on West Mercer Way.
