Police Blotter: Woman Attacked By Estranged Son at Roanoke Way Home

say an 80-year-old woman was assaulted by her estranged son on Friday, Aug. 17 at 11:40 a.m. near the front door of her home on the 1600 block of Roanoke Way.

A no-trespassing restraining order forbid her 46-year-old son from entering the home, but the man followed her to her front door anyways and then shoved her aside, barging into the home. The woman locked herself in the bathroom to call 911 and her son fled the premises.

Drug Runner Busted While Camping at Luther Burbank Park
A 20-year-old Pullman man wanted on a $10,000 warrant in Grant County for running drugs was discovered camping after hours in Luther Burbank Park at 12:14 a.m. He was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail in Seattle.

Bike Stolen from Home Near
A 66-year-old resident reported his bike had been stolen from an unsecured bike rack at his residence on the 4100 block of 78th Ave. SE sometime between noon and 4 p.m.

Police Arrest Man Banned From Local Parks
Police arrested a 22-year-old resident at at 8:41 p.m. after he violated a no-trespassing order.

Teens Caught Smoking Marijuana at Island Park Elementary
A 19-year-old resident smoking marijuana at was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of a controlled substance. Police discovered him and another 19-year-old man behind the school at 11:44 p.m. and found the smoker in possession of a multi-colored glass marijuana smoking pipe and a sandwich bag containing suspected marijuana.

Aug. 15

Runaway Car at St. Monica Causes 87th Ave. Crash
Two women were involved in a car crash as they visited . The Kenmore woman driving a Toyota Scion at 1:19 p.m. left her passenger in the car after parking the it in the driveway with the vehicle in neutral β€” without using the parking brake. When the 62-year-old woman exited the SUV a short time later, it began to roll backwards out of the driveway and onto 87th Ave. SE. The passenger had left the passenger-side door open, and the runaway car quickly struck a parked BMW X5, damaging the door and sides of both vehicles.

Prowler Swipes GPS From Unlocked Car
A car prowler removed a GPS navigation system from the glove box of an unsecured Ford Focus near a home on the 2500 block of SE 61st Street sometime over the last 8-10 days. The car was parked on the street in front of several condo buildings there, and no signs of forced entry were found on the vehicle.

Suspected Stolen Jewelry, Bag Found at Island Crest Park
A Mercer Island Parks employee discovered a large, white mesh bag with costume jewelry inside at around 2:15 p.m. and later turned it over to police. The bag was placed in safekeeping as possibly related to other recent burglaries and thefts in the area.

Aug. 13

Boater Busted for BUI Near Luther Burbank Beach
Mercer Island Marine Patrol arrested a 20-year-old resident at 7 p.m. for suspicion of boating under the influence off the shores of . Police said she "violated safety regulations" while operating a Malibu speedboat in Lake Washington.
