Police to Resume Sonar Search for Missing Mercer Island Man's Body

Islander Richard Sweezey disappeared July 20 as he was working on his moored boat in Seattle. The boat was found adrift near downtown Kirkland later that night and Sweezey was later presumed drowned.

King County Sheriffs and the Seattle Police Harbor Patrol say they will soon resume search operations on Lake Washington looking for the body of a Mercer Island man who was .

King County Sheriffs spokesperson Cindi West said the Seattle Police have been working with the sheriff's office to try and find his body and spent a couple of days last week searching with their sonar, but the search was postponed due to Seafair events in the area. She expected the search to resume in the coming days.

"This is a terrible tragedy for the family of the missing man," she said. "We hope that we will be able to recover his body to at least being a little peace to his family."
