Woman Arrested Following Assault Involving Kitchen Knife

Police say the woman was intoxicated and was arrested after injuring a man during a domestic dispute.

Mercer Island Police arrested a 45-year-old woman suspected of assaulting a man in a domestic dispute involving a knife Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the 3700 block of 78th Ave. S.E. shortly after 3 p.m. on a report of a domestic disturbance possibly involving a knife or gun, according to a department report. They found both the man and the woman had “injuries/lacerations.”

The man told police that the woman had assaulted him and damaged his truck, smashing the passenger side mirror and damaging the radio antennae, the report said.

He also said that the woman stabbed herself with a knife. Police took an 8-inch kitchen knife into evidence, along with digital photographs of the crime scene.

Witnesses were at the scene at the time, the report said.

Police arrested the “intoxicated/agitated” woman on suspicion of second-degree assault/domestic violence and booked her into King County Jail, the report said.
