City Council Candidate Benson Wong Receives Additional Support

The candidate in the race for Council Position 6 has been endorsed by a diverse group of local leaders.

In a press release today, City Council Candidate Benson Wong shared a number of new endorsements from current and past local leaders. 

State Senator Steve Litzow endorsed Wong. Litzow said,  "As a former Mercer Island City Council member, I know what it takes to be successful in the job - innovative ideas, a steady fiscal hand and a commitment to our citizens. Benson has what it takes to help lead our community and I wholeheartedly endorse him." 
Stage Representative Judy Clibborn endorsed Wong as well. She said, "As an Island resident and chair of the House Transportation Committee, I want someone on the Mercer Island City Council who is dedicated to listening to all sides before making a decision. I trust Benson to be a strong voice for the Island when tough decisions need to be made." 

And Mercer Island City Councilmember Mike Cero endorsed Wong as well. "I like Benson's sincerity and commitment to do what is right." 

Wong was also endorsed by Former Mercer Island Mayor Bryan Cairns who said,   "Benson has impressed me with his thoughtful approach to solutions to key Island issues including both downtown growth and enlivenment and local and regional transportation. A successful small business owner and participant in major Seattle civic developments Benson brings a full range of needed experience to the City Council. Benson has my full endorsement."

“I am humbled by the support of those who have served our community in various elected offices, both locally and in the legislature,” said Wong. “Their understanding of local issues has made their endorsement of my candidacy a source of great personal pride. If elected, I will work hard to ensure that all voices are heard, and that we use the best thinking of all of our residents to create sound policies for Mercer Island’s future.”
