City Pothole Repair Crews Hit the Streets Aug. 1

The city's annual street repair campaign will wrap up Sept. 30.

The City's Maintenance Department will begin annual asphalt spot repairs in neighborhoods across the island beginning August 1, weather permitting. The annual pothole repair program is supported by the City Council as part of the annual City budget.

Islanders are reminded to exercise caution while driving during the month of August and to be alert for lane closures, parking and driveway restrictions, and machinery and personnel on roadways as road repair work increases.

The City maintenance department and its contractor aim to complete annual repairs by September 30. To increase the safety of both drivers and road crews, Islanders are reminded not only to drive safely in work zones, but to watch for and obey traffic flaggers as well. The City recognizes the potential delays road repairs can create for motorists and works to minimize inconvenience whenever possible while always putting safety first.
