City Website Gets 'Refreshed' Makeover

New features include enhanced multimedia and search functions, including the ability to stream City Council meetings live or toggle through the meeting using the agenda the following day.

The launched a redesigned version of its website Tuesday with a new look and feel, as well as improved searching functions.

In 2001, the City conducted the RFP process and selected Project A, Inc. to develop a municipal website that would allow citizens and customers an easy and efficient way to access City information.  In late 2010, staff embarked on a project to “refresh” the website while maintaining the current vendor and basic navigation system.

With the addition of GoogleMini, users will find a simpler, familiar Google Search function allowing for increased searching capabilities.  The new “Find It Quickly” function will allow users a list of common and highly used aspects and pages on the City’s site.

The City’s website includes a new way to view City Council meetings.  Those interested can now view meetings live on the web as they happen and also browse a video archive of past meetings. The agenda for each Council meeting is included in the same screen as the video. Each agenda item, when clicked, will take you directly to that spot in the meeting video for quick and easy access to the topics of interest (except during live meetings).

The site will also include a new web mapping portal for access to information about City services such as property information, aerial photos going back to 1963, crime and fire mapping, utilities, capital projects, and more.
