Council Selects Tana Senn for Open Seat

Mercer Island City Council voted to select Senn in the third round of voting.

Mercer Island City Council elected Thursday night as its newest member to replace outgoing councilman Jim Pearman, who is stepping down effective Jan. 31.

Senn, Robert Bersos, Steven C. Marshall and Benson D. Wong all put their names forward for the position and earlier this week.

According to the , the election went to three rounds after Deputy Mayor Dan Grausz nominated Senn but could only garner initial support from Mayor Bruce Bassett and new councilmember Debbie Bertlin. Councilmemers Mike Cero and Mike Grady supported Marshall and Councilmember Jane Brahm nominated Wong, but switched her support to Senn, according to the report.

Senn will be sworn in Feb. 6.
