Interstate 90 Express Lanes to be Westbound through Monday Afternoon

The Washington State Department of Transportation modified the schedule of the Express Lanes due to backups caused by the State Route 520 Bridge Closure and Mercer Island's Summer Celebration.

Heavy backups across Interstate 90 will mean that the center-roadway express lanes are now westbound and will remain westbound until the normal weekday switch begins at 1 p.m. Monday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

WSDOT has been closely monitoring an increasing backup on westbound I-90 caused by the and Mercer Island’s S.

Heavy traffic is expected to continue until at least 8 p.m. Saturday, July 8, and likely will be heavy again Sunday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Interstate 5 ramps to Mercer Street also are closed until 5 a.m. Monday morning.
