King County Certifies Primary Election Results

Incumbent Jane Hague, who represents Mercer Island, received 37.9 percent of the votes for King County Council District 6.

King County has certified the results of the , and the final tally shows incumbent candidate  took 37.9 percent of the vote for King County Council District 6.

Following Hague was Mercer Island attorney  with 30.1 percent of the vote. He will face Hague in the general election this November.

Rounding out the District 6 candidates, earned 24.30 percent of votes, while received 7.3 percent.

Voter turnout was far below initial estimates of 52 percent from King County Elections. Total voter turnout from King County was 349,566, or 32 percent of registered voters. The turnout is roughly the historical average in an off-year primary. 

Officials certified 338,255 votes, or 30.9 percent in the election, dismissing over 10,000 ballots due to validation requirements. In 2010, officials tossed 15,000 ballots because they were mailed late, not sealed inside the second "security" envelope and not signed.

In the King County District 6 County Council race — which includes Mercer Island — 37,748 votes, or 31.1 percent of registered voters were counted. 

The King County  has also be officially approved by voters with 69 percent voting yes on the measure.

Mercer Island's 2011 between challenger and were not included on the primary ballot because none have more than two candidates. Click here to see all of King County's primary election results.
