Mercer Island Planning Commission, Arts Council and More Seek Applicants

Got an interest in getting involved in the Mercer Island community? The city is taking applications for a variety of openings on various volunteer advisory boards.

Openings include the Arts Council, Planning Commission, Design Commission, Senior Advisory and more.

The city of Mercer Island released the following information regarding the boards and how to apply:

Help improve the livability of Mercer Island by getting more involved in your community. The City Council is seeking a diverse range of citizens to serve on several volunteer advisory boards.

Appointments are made by the Mayor and affirmed by the City Council. Generally, the four-year term runs June 1 through May 31. Upon appointment, board members can expect to spend about ten hours per month serving, although commitments may vary. The boards and commissions with positions available are:

• Arts Council (5 positions)
• Design Commission (2 positions)
• Open Space Conservancy Trust (2 positions)
• Planning Commission (1 position)
• Senior Advisory Board (4 positions)
• Utility Board (3 positions)
• Youth & Family Services Advisory Board (4 adult positions, and 6 student positions: 3 current 8th grade and 3 current 10th grade)
