All Mercer Island School District school board meetings are being moved to the Mercer Island City Hall Council Chambers effective Dec. 10 — the next scheduled Special Meeting — and all future regular and special board meetings until further notice, according to a school district press release.
The change in location will enable the district to take advantage of the city's television broadcast capabilities, allowing citizens to tune into board meetings from their homes on MI-TV channel 21. The school board approved changes necessary to move the meetings at an Oct. 25 public meeting.
The move was under consideration at the board's last meeting earlier in October.
"We are excited about the prospect of televised board meetings and are very grateful to the city for making this technology available," said Superintendent Gary Plano.
