School Board Meetings to be Televised in Move to City Hall Council Chambers

In a bid to increase transparency, the Mercer Island School Board accepted an offer to broadcast its meetings on MI-TV 21 and place recordings on the school district's website for a modest fee.

All Mercer Island School District school board meetings are being moved to the Mercer Island City Hall Council Chambers effective Dec. 10 β€” the next scheduled Special Meeting β€” and all future regular and special board meetings until further notice, according to a school district press release.

The change in location will enable the district to take advantage of the city's television broadcast capabilities, allowing citizens to tune into board meetings from their homes on MI-TV channel 21. The school board approved changes necessary to move the meetings at an Oct. 25 public meeting.

The move was under consideration at the board's last meeting earlier in October.Β
