What's on Tap for Mercer Island City Council, Oct. 17

City Council will meet in council chambers inside City Hall at 7 p.m. for its regularly-scheduled meeting.

The Mercer Island City Council will meet on Monday, Oct. 17 at  with a busy agenda starting at 7 p.m.

The council will begin its regular City Council meeting at 7 p.m., and consider approving the of expansion of a Cingular Wireless shed in holding telecommunications equipment. An agent of the wireless carrier is requesting an amendment to an existing agreement to allow the company 4G LTE wireless capability on Mercer Island. 

The council will also hear from Director Cindy Goodwin on work the city's (CTC) Coalition program has accomplished and work they are planning in the near future, including a possible push to work with other communities in the state to introduce new laws like the the city is currently drafting for approval later this year.

The council will also consider a series of amendments to the city's zoning laws to require less oversight of minor modifications to Town Center buildings and wireless communication facilities on Mercer Island. The city's Design Commission currently reviews these plans for compliance.
