CURTIS-FEDERAL WAY: Vikings Fall To No. 2 Eagles

The Vikings, the No. 3 seed out of the SPSL South, will face Bothell in a play-in game to the state playoffs.

UPDATE 10:30 p.m., 10/26/12

Too much.

Federal Way was too much for Curtis on Friday, pulling away for 35-6 victory and a second consecutive SPSL South title.

Curtis' EJ Deveaux scored the team's lone touchdown in the second quarter on a 29-yard pass from Scott Wismer, but it wasn't enough. The Eagles' defense was stout and opportunistic in the second half, collecting three interceptions.

The Eagles' Evan Elliott threw four touchdown passes, including a 67-yard pass to Marcel Morris.

The Vikings (7-2 overall, 6-2 league) will face Bothell for a play-in game to the state playoffs.

The Curtis football team controls its own destiny, sort of.

The Vikings host No. 2 Federal Way tonight, and the boys from University Place are coming in with momentum. Only thing is, so are the Eagles, who have weapons on both sides of the ball.

The teams are playing for seeding in the SPSL 4A playoffs, but it isn't as easy as one-two-three, according to Todd Milles of The News Tribune. Here's how tonight's game will decide seeding:

1, If Federal Way loses by 13 or fewer points, the Eagles would remain the No. 1 seed, followed by Graham-Kapowsin at No. 2 and Curtis at No. 3.

2, If Federal Way loses by 14 or more points, a mini-playoff is expected to take place Tuesday.

But even the latter scenario according to Milles, could be a moot point, as at least one of three coaches atop the SPSL has suggested deciding seeding via a coin flip.

Yeah, none of this is confusing.

First thing is first. To make this all happen, Curtis needs to win, and win big. Follow the comment stream below to follow the game, as Patch users Dan and Howard will be providing updates.

Of course, we want to hear from you too, so feel free to give updates or share you Curtis pride.

Good luck tonight, guys, and Go Viks!

Curtis played hard, but Federal Way truly is a top-tier team. Congrats to them and the Vikings.
