Five Islanders Named to Boys Lacrosse All-State Team

Connor Bernal, Brent Tsang, Chase York, Alex Robbs and Grant Preisler, Jr. honored as Islanders gear up to face Bellarmine Prep in state quarterfinals on Friday.

The Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association announced on Tuesday the 2012 All-State teams for Boys Division I high school lacrosse.

Included in the roster of 42 student-athletes from 18 schools were five varsity starters from the squad: Connor Bernal, Brent Tsang, Chase York, Alex Robbs and Grant Preisler, Jr.

Bernal and Tsang were named to the All-State First Team, York to the Second Team and Robbs and Preisler the Third Team.

The All-State selections are made by coaches from each of the league’s Division I teams in Washington state.

Bellevue High School had the largest number of honorees β€” eight β€” and three named to the first team. had the second-highest number of honors, followed by Issaquah High School and Eastside Catholic.

Islanders to Face Bellarmine Prep in State Quarterfinal

Bellarmine Prep (6-9-0) will face the Mercer Island Islanders Friday, 6 p.m. at after upsetting a favored Mukilteo squad 16-13 on Tuesday. Mukilteo concludes the season with a 10-6-0 (10-5-0 in the regular season) record.

The Islanders (14-6-0), who have an opening round bye through to the state quarterfinals, last faced Bellarmine Prep on March 16 when they crushed the Lions 19-2.
