Breakdown: Mercer Island has righted the ship since an opening week 36-35 overtime loss to Seattle Prep (now ranked in the top 10 of the state by the Seattle Times), winning two games in a row. Lastweek the Islanders trailed 18-17 at halftime against Juanita, but used a huge second half to run away with a 47-24 win. Quarterback Jeff Lindquist has 12 total touchdowns through two weeks (sevenrushing, five passing), but the revelation the past two weeks has been running back Phil Frazier. Frazier has rushed for 156 yards in the past two games and scored four touchdowns. Interlake might be thebest 0-3 team in the state given the opponents it has faced. The Saints started the season against two 4A opponents in Newport and Roosevelt and followed those games up by opening the KingCo season against Bellevue. Interlake has been in each game until the fourth quarter and even out a scare into Bellevue last week, trailing just 21-20 heading into the final frame.

Patch Pick: Mercer Island 35, Interlake 24.
