invites college-bound 10th and 11th graders to take a practice SAT or ACT test to gauge their current achievement level and readiness for college entrance exams. All colleges require either and or SAT score to accompany applications.
“College admissions tests should be taken seriously by students because solid scores can bolster a college application. In some cases, schools will even award scholarships for scores that are in the top five to ten percentile,” states Learning Center Manager Mackenzie Krause.
The first Free Practice SAT or ACT was given on Sept. 8, but two more tests will be held on Oct. 6 and Dec. 8. The practice test is held at College Tutors’ Mercer Island Learning Center, located at 7605 SE 27th #101 Mercer Island, WA 98040, and students should register as soon as possible in preparation for the the 2012 PSAT/NMSQT. The exam, which qualifies students to compete as National Merit Scholars, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20 at .
College Tutors mimics the setting and timing of the actual exams. Students and parents are invited to a complementary, individualized consultation to review scored exams and highlight areas of strength and weakness.
“There is significant value in a student having early exposure to full length college entrance exams. Our free practice exams offer students the chance to test under more realistic conditions than the PSAT or PLAN, which provides a more accurate benchmark score,” says Krause. “College admissions has never been more competitive, so having a strong score on the SAT or ACT puts students at an advantage,” adds Krause.
To register, please contact the Mercer Island Learning Center at 206-659-4156. Registration closes 24 hours in advance of each test.
