Help Find a New Principal for MIHS

The Mercer Island School District is seeking help from the public to search for a new principal for Mercer Island High School.

The is still seeking members of the public to help find a permanent replacement for former principal John Harrison, who.Β 

The MISD is currently accepting applications from both parents of current students and community members-at-large to fill six spots on the New Principal Selection Committee. Approximately 22 individuals representing district administration, MIHS staff, students, parents, and community members-at-large (Click here for a description of the MIHS Principal position) will serve on the committee.

Based on the application, the committee is seeking individuals who have a level of involvement in school district activites and/or someone with personal or professional qualifications to help the committee find the new principal.

The school is currently led by interim principal Patricia Blix, who will step down once a new principal is located.

According to a description of the position for MIHS principal, a successful candidate must have a Master's Degree and Secondary Principal's Credential by July 1, 2012. The annual salary range is $120,273-$124,683.

"We are seeking candidates who have a broad intellectual perspective, strong administrative skills, and a high degree of personal integrity and maturity," states the brochure for the principal's position.

The tentative schedule is set to interview approximately eight semi-finalist candidates during the second week of March, and volunteers must be available for at least two working days and possible travel to the candidate's home residence.

All applications for the selection committee are due by Wednesday, Feb. 8th.
