Islanders Basketball Prepares for Jan. 13 'White-Out' Rally vs. Mt. Si

A boys and girls home doubleheader is on tap against KingCo 3A/2A League rival Mount Si

Local prep basketball booster clubs for the boys and girls varsity basketball teams are revving-up interest for the first games of the year with a "Winter White Out" rally on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Gym.

Islanders are encouraged to come out dressed in ”White” shirts and support the ra long-running boys and girls basketball tradition as Mercer Island faces off against KingCo 3A/2A League rival Mount Si. Limited edition Islanders “White Out” Graphic T-Shirts will be sold at the door (while supplies last).

The night starts at 3:30 p.m. with the JV Girls followed by JV Boys at 5 p.m. , Varsity Girls at 6:30 p.m. and Varsity Boys at 8 p.m.

As of Jan. 4th, the Mercer Island High School Boys Varsity Basketball team is flying high with 8 wins and 3 losses. The Varsity team recently returned from in Atlanta, GA, from the South. The Mercer Island Boys Varsity squad is an exciting team featuring tremendous size, length and athleticism, with Seniors Brian Miller, Sam Cohn, Jeff Lindquist, Sean Hughes, Parker Scott and Justen Altaras leading the charge.

The Mercer Island High School Girls Varsity Basketball team has started the season with some close match ups including an earlier game vs. Mt Si. The team has been working hard during winter break with a focus to minimize turnovers and improve distribution.
