Community Leaders Take on Former Harlem Globetrotters in Marching Band Benefit

A large crowd showed up at Bellevue College Friday May 20, paying $25 per person, for a chance to see MI teachers, the mayor and radio hosts Dave Ross and Luke Burbank play against Harlem Globetrotters Alumni

Bellevue College was filled with Band supporters, and those who wanted to witness the spectacle of  band directors, teachers, and officials like Principal John Harrison play basketball — and some probably were drawn by the acrobatics of the retired Harlem Globetrotters.

KIRO radio talk show host and Mercer Island resident Dave Ross and his co-host Luke Burbank, Mercer Island Mayor Jim Pearman and other local celebrities were also on hand to display their talents as well.

MIHS Security Officer Kelly John-Lewis stood out as most-able to take on the former Globetrotter showmen. Girls basketball coach Jamie Prescott added depth to the team that also included teachers such as Chris Twombley and Jan Sayers.
