Mercer Island Girls Tennis Takes State Title
Nora Tan beat Barbara Ann Carey of Seattle Prep in straight sets for the singles title and Mercer Island's doubles team finished second to Prairie High School.
Mercer Island High School Girls Tennis wins State with a total of 19 points. Hanford placed second with 16, and Seattle Prep and Holy Names tied for 3rd with 11 points.
Nora Tan of Mercer Island won the singles title, defeating Barbara Ann Carey of Seattle Prep, 6-4, 6-1. Mercer Island's doubles team of Sophia Gage and Lydia Venditti lost the doubles championship match 2-6, 6-1, 7-5, to the Baba sisters from Prairie High School, to claim second place.
The Mercer Island Boys Team also won the team State Championship.
