Mercer Island High Students Come Up Big at International DECA Conference

Three Mercer Island High students performed beyond expectation at recent conference in Salt Lake City.

Three students placed in the top ten internationally at the recent DECA International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City.

Olivia Rosen and Emily More placed second in the world with their marketing communications case study, and Alberto Gonzalez placed in the top ten in the world with his human resources role play.

All three students were thrilled with their respective performances.

"It was really cool that we did so well," Olivia Rosen said.

"It was unexpected but very exciting," Emily Morse said.

Gonzalez was particularly excited to do so well in his first year of DECA involvement.Β 

"That by itself was pretty cool," Gonzalez said.

Aside from their personal accomplishments, the three students said they had a great time taking part in a big, exciting competition with other DECA members from around the world. The particularly enjoyed getting to travel with classmates and meet other students with similar interests.

"They make it a really fun trip," Morse said.

"We just had a really great time together," Rosen said.
