Mercer Island Undergrads at 2013 Whitman College Conference

he annual Whitman Undergraduate Conference celebrates the scholarship and creativity of the Whitman student body through a day devoted entirely to original presentations which take the form of talks, posters presentations, musical performances and artistic exhibitions. Students from every academic discipline of the college gather to share their research and creative projects with the campus community. 

More than 200 students shared their work at this year's conference, covering a wide array of subject matters.

These presentations and demonstrations of original achievement by students come through course work, study abroad, senior theses, summer research, fellowships and internships.

  • Lillian Bailey presented a project titled " The Effects of Socioeconomic Status on Selective Exploration." She is currently a senior Spanish major at Whitman. 
  • Lauren Davis presented a project titled " Investigating the Genetic Basis of Perrault Syndrome: Connecting a Mutation to a Rare Human Disorder." She is currently a senior biology major at Whitman. 
  • Jedediah Jacobson presented a project titled " Athletic Proficiency and Executive Function." He is currently a senior psychology major at Whitman. 
  • Natalie Jamerson presented a project titled " Spatial Predictors of Bird Damage on Cherry Orchards." She is currently a senior biology-environmental studies major at Whitman.
