Mercer Island School District Superintendent Gary Plano will be among three candidates being interviewed to head the Ashland School District in Oregon this weekend.
The Ashland School District board will vote on Monday on who will be superintendent of the Oregon district, which has 3,000 students and 300 teachers and other employees, according to the district webpage. The announcement of who got the job will be made the last week of February, according ot the website.
Ashland will interview its candidates on Friday and Saturday, according to its superintendent search website.
According to the Mail Tribune of Medford, Ore., the Ashland superintendent will be offered between $120,000 to $135,000.
Plano, who has headed Mercer Island since 2008, told district employees last month in a letter that he has a home in Ashland, OR, expecting to retire there. But he applied for the Ashland School District job when that district's superintendent Juli Di Chiro announced her own retirement and her job was advertised.
