School Board Invites Public To School Bond Listening Tour

The Mercer Island School District will present plans to build or remodel local schools at a series of meetings in late-August and early September.

The Mercer Island School District’s Board of Directors is seeking the public's input on the solutions and new school designs that are being developed to address overcrowding.

Here's a few ways the MISD is encouraging the public's participation, according to a direct mailing sent to local homeowners this week:

Attend a listening session:

Elementary School No. 4 and High School Expansion
August 28, 2013, 7:00–8:30 pm
North Campus Gym
(near Youth Theatre Northwest)

Middle School Expansion
August 27, 2013, 7:00–8:30 pm
Islander Middle School Multi-Purpose Room

Attend School Board Meetings:

August 29, 2013:
8:30 am, Council Chambers, City Hall
September 12, 2013:
5:30-7:00 pm, North Campus Gym
(near Youth Theatre Northwest) – View schematic designs;
7:00 pm Board Meeting – Give public input

Spring/Summer 2013:
Community outreach and analysis, public forums, online feedback, community presentations; Educational Specifications Process to include architectural drawings and cost estimates; and Financing proposal

Possible Board decision on submitting bond measure
