Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano and the Mercer Island School Board are set to discuss recommendations to rebuild 4 of 5 schools from the ground up in the next decade at its public meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the .
On the agenda is a review of findings brought by the 21st Century Facilities Planning Committee (21 CFPC) on how and why the district should move forward. The school board directors will review school sizes and practices and operations in neighboring school districts, the cost per square-foot of new buildings and the latest enrollment projections for Mercer Island.
The school board is also interested in scheduling school tours in other districts and review first-hand what benefits schools elsewhere offer.
The school board will also review plots of land for a possible real estate purchase to accommodate the MISD's stated desire to move the district's school bus fleet away from the North Mercer - MIHS "mega block" to another location.
