Friday’s Mercer Island, Issaquah girls high school lacrosse matchup voted Seattle Times People’s Choice Game of the Week

Seattle Times readers have selected Friday’s Mercer Island vs. Issaquah girls high school lacrosse matchup as the Seattle Times People’s Choice Game of the Week for April 18 - 24. 

The girls high school game between Mercer Island (4-2-1) and Issaquah (3-1-1) gets underway at 6 p.m., Friday, April 22 at Skyline High School in Sammamish. 

Girls lacrosse was selected through a Seattle Times online poll presented by AAA Washington’s Varsity News.  The poll ran from Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22.

The Mercer Island vs. Issaquah game, one of two lacrosse matchups included in the poll, received  39 percent of the 1,467 votes cast by the 2 p.m. Friday deadline.  It edged the boys lacrosse matchup by just 8 votes.  The two lacrosse games combined for 77 percent of the total votes cast. 

Others games included a softball matchup between Kentlake and Mt. Rainier (10 percent), a Mercer Island vs. Mt. Si baseball game (9 percent), an Auburn vs. Kent-Meridian soccer match (4 percent) and the Tahoma vs. Lake Washington Boys Division I lacrosse game (38 percent).

Broadcast highlights of the Seattle Times People’s Choice Game of the Week will be featured in the online Seattle Times High School Sports section (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/highschoolsports/) and on AAA Washington’s Varsity News (www.TheVarsityNews.com), which airs on KONG TV, channels 6 and 16 in the Seattle market, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23.
