Girls Lacrosse, Lakeside Battle to 12-12 Draw

The Islander Girls Division 1 team next play against Eastside Catholic on Thursday, March 31 in a 4:30 p.m.

Alena Pilchowski scored 6 goals for Lakeside and Madison Blackburn netted 4 for as the Lions and Islanders settled for a 12 – 12 draw in girls Division I high school lacrosse action, Friday at the Lakeside Upper School in north Seattle.  

Emerging from the intermission knotted a 5 goals apiece, forged a 9 – 7 lead on a solo-shot by Dolce Mol at 18:51 of the second stanza. After trading goals, Lakeside’s Kaylee Best converted a free shot at 1:42 remaining to put the Lions up 12 – 11. But with just 28 seconds remaining, MI’s Elena Skouras took a hard pass from Madison Blackburn to beat Lions goaltender Emily Kim over her left shoulder knotting the game at 12.

In the final seconds, a Lakeside turnover gave the Islanders a final chance at a win, but Skouras’ shot sailed off the right post as time expired. With the tie, MI remains undefeated at 3-0-1, while Lakeside is winless in three starts. The Islanders next see action against Eastside Catholic on Thursday, March 31 in a 4:30 p.m. start at Islander Middle School on Mercer Island.
