Island Resident Rambaldini Named US State Lacrosse Player of the Week

Rambaldini, a senior and team captain at Eastside Catholic, scored a total of 11 goals last week against Lynnwood and Skyline.

Eastside Catholic midfielder Michael Rambaldini scored 12 points, including 11 goals and 1 assist in the Crusaders’ Division I lacrosse wins over Lynnwood and rival Skyline. The 5-11, 150 pound senior from Mercer Island scored 6 goals in Eastside Catholic’s 21 – 4 defeat over Lynnwood, last year’s Division II state champion, and two days later, netted 5 goals as the Crusaders defeated Sammamish rival Skyline 22 – 19. During the week, his combined 15 ground balls, powered the potent Crusader offense, racking-up a total of 43 goals.

Rambaldini has four years high school lacrosse experience and was elected captain of the Eastside Catholic squad as a junior and senior. A highly versatile athlete, Rambaldini was named captain of the Crusaders’ basketball squad as a senior and captain of the JV squad as a sophomore. As a junior and senior he was named to the school’s scholar athlete award for both lacrosse and basketball.

In the classroom, the three-year National Honor Society selectee maintains a 3.82 GPA through a rigorous schedule of advanced placement and honors course work.  Through hard work and dedication in the classroom he received the school’s Academic First Honors from 2008 – 2011, was named to the school’s Basketball Scholar Athlete Award as a junior and senior and received Student of the Month honors as a freshman and junior. His on-campus achievements include serving as DECA vice president as a junior, Eastside Catholic Mentor Representative as a sophomore and junior, Freshman Overnight Retreat leader and Destiny Retreat Leader, both as a senior. He is also a member of the school’s Crusader Life Club and Fishing Club.

In the community, Rambaldini has completed over 150 hours of community service including work with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation where he raised over $50,000. Following graduation, Rambaldini plans to study at either  one of the Claremont Colleges in California or the University of Washington.

Rambaldini is the second Eastside Catholic student to earn US Lacrosse Washington High School Player of the Week honors in 2011. The Crusaders’ Alex Foreman was named Girls Division I player of the week for the week of March 28 – April 3.
