Islanders Outlast Liberty, 7-3

A 4th quarter touchdown leads the Islanders to a 4-1 mark in the 2A/3A KingCo conference standings.

It was rainy, it was messy, but at the end of Friday's KingCo matchup with Liberty, the visiting Mercer Island Islanders (5-2, 4-1 KingCo) varsity football team gutted out a 7-3 victory.

After a scoreless half, Liberty got to the Islanders 3-yard-line but a key tackle by DB Patrick Nielson forced the Patriots to kick a field goal with 1:48 left to play in the third quarter.

On the next drive, the Islanders drove down the field to score the game's only touchdown with 11:18 left in the fourth quarter, then held on for the win.
