Mercer Island Firm Helps Mariners Debut 2012 Commercials

Starring are Brendan Ryan, Ichiro, Justin Smoak, Felix Hernandez, Jesus Montero and Dustin Ackley.

The Seattle Mariners can always be counted on to create lively and fun commercials.

Today, the team released five new ones to begin airing Wednesday when the Mariners take on the Kansas City Royals in their first televised preseason game. The game, on ROOT Sports, begins at 7:05 p.m.

This year's campaign was created by the Mariners and Seattle agency Copacino+Fujikado, and shot and directed by Blue Goose Productions of Mercer Island.

Blue Goose's executive producer Bill Hoare and Director Ron Gross have been working with the Mariners since 1994, and their 100th Mariners commercial ran during the 2009 season.

This year, the commercials feature the return of ace pitcher Felix Hernandez as Larry Bernandez. Kind of. You have to see the commercial to see why.

Also starring are Justin Smoak, Dustin Ackley and Jesus Montero. Another has Brendan Ryan doing his best Robert De Niro impression but getting upstaged by Ichiro.

The Mariners begin their regular season March 28 with two games in Japan against the Oakland A's.
