Mercer Island Girls Hoops Falls to Bellevue, 54 to 61

KingCo MVP Shelby Cansler of Bellevue was too much for the Islanders, scoring 20 points, to lead Bellevue to a 7-point win.

Mercer Island girls basketball fell to Bellevue 54-61 Thursday night in the KingCo 3A Tournament at Bellevue College.

Mindy Blakeslee provided the following information about the game:

KingCo MVP Shelby Cansler of Bellevue was too much for the Islanders, scoring 20 points, to lead Bellevue to a 7-point win.  

Mercer Island made a few runs at Bellevue who led most of the game, making it interesting in the last two minutes, but Bellevue made their free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Mercer Island placed second in the KingCo tournament and will next face the Metro #6 seed on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at Mercer Island High School. 

The All KingCo team were announced tonight as well. Mercer Island's Kris Brackmann was selected to the 1st Team, and three Islanders made Honorable Mention:  Jessica Blakeslee, Julia Blumenstein and Renae Tessum.
