Mercer Island Swimmers Set New State Record in 200 Freestyle Relay

The Mercer Island High School varsity Girls' Swim & Dive team set a new state record on its way to a fourth consecutive state title on Nov. 10.

Mercer Island High School's varsity swim and dive team did more than win the state title for the fourth consecutive time on Nov. 10.

The 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Sabrina Kwan, Grace Wold, Christina Williamson and Alex Seidel also set a new state record with a time of 1.37.12, breaking the previous record held by Juanita of 1.37.77.

Mercer Island Girls Swim & Dive had not won the event at the state meet since 1996.

The new record is an all-classification state record, meaning it's the fastest time recorded in state prep sports for all divisions administered by the Washington Interscholastic Activites Association (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A and 4A).
