Mercer Island Youth Soccer Girls U-13 Team Wins Skagit Firecracker Tournament

Three clean sheets, 9 goals scored and a 4-0 win in the final earned the Mercer Island youth their first summer tournament victory.

The U-13 Girls Select team, Fierce, won the Skagit Firecracker tournament in Burlington.Β  Despite the rain and cool weather, the Fierce earned three straight shutouts and 9 goals scored in tournament play.Β

In the final, the team faced Tynecastle FC and won the title with a convincing 4-0 win. This was the first tournament of the summer and was a special showing given the short time these players have played together and that they maintained a clean sheet through the entire tournament.

The team includes Maeve Atkins, Ava Blanchette, Ellie Daugherty, Tess Hendelman, Eliza Jacobson, Ali Kimball, Isabelle Knowles, Fiona McCann, Macy Mounger, Sophie Poole, Isabelle Petersson, Kendall Riley, Elakshi Shah, Rachel Silke, Jessie Stenberg, and Kendra Watson.Β  The team is coached by Andrea Anderson and her assistants are Erin Anderson and Nick Blanchette.
