Mercerwood, Newport Hills Tie for First Place in Midlakes League Championship

Mercerwood Shore Club won the Midlakes Swim League title on July 20 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

The Mercerwood Shore Club Manta Rays claimed at least a share of the 2013 Midlakes League Championship for fifth year running on Saturday, July 20 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.Β 

Both Newport Hills Swim & Tennis Club and Mercerwood finished with a final team score of 1768.00, an incredibly rare feat in competitive swimming. Mercer Island Beach Club finished third overall, out of all 27 clubs competing for the title.

MSC also finished the regular season as "A" swim meet champions.

The Midlakes Swim League began 1954 and 27 private clubs on the Eastside currently participate in competitve aquatic sports. The annual League Championship is considered one of the top venues in the area for competitive club swimming and aquatic sports for children ages 8-18.

According to its website, the league involves over 3,000 youth athletes from late May thru August in swimming, diving and water polo.
