MI girls pull away from Prep in lacrosse opener

Shields nets a win in first game as head coach.

Tyler Sherper scored 4 goals and Elizabeth Bachman and Dolce Moll each tallied 3 as Mercer Island downed Seattle Prep, 13-9, on Monday in their season opening Girls Division I lacrosse game. 

Prep kept it close in the first, trailing the Islanders by just one goal at the half, but the Islanders built on its 8 – 7 intermission lead to finish with the win.  Erica Eagan had 10 saves in goal for the Islanders.  Emily Cone, Kendall Ruggles and Mary Sessler each scored 2 goals in the loss for the Panthers.
