MI Lacrosse: Girls D-1 Team Crush Holy Names, Lynnwood Forfeits to Boys

A total of 10 Islanders had their names on the scoring sheet as Mercer Island defeated Holy Names, 19-7 in Seattle.

Tyler Sherper scored 5 goals to lead Mercer Island to its fourth win of the season with a 19 – 7 girls high school lacrosse defeat of Holy Names, Wednesday at Magnuson Park in Seattle. 

With generous passing, a total of 10 Islanders scored in the game which saw MI take an 11 – 3 lead at the half before cruising in the second to the win.

MI’s Elena Skouras netted 3 goals and Madison Blackburn and Elizabeth Bachman each had 2 scores, while  Erika Eagan had 10 saves in the Islander’s cage.  For Holy Names, Becky Fuller led all scorers with 3 goals and goaltender Katie Arthofer had 6 saves.

Mercer Island (4-2-1) next faces Issaquah (3-2-1), Friday, April 22 in a 6 p.m. start at Skyline High School in Sammamish.  Holy Names (0-7-0) next faces Issaquah (3-2-1), Tuesday, April 26 in a 4:30 p.m. start at Magnuson Park in Seattle.

The Mercer Island boys lacrosse team, meanwhile, were handed a win-by-forfeit at Lynwood. They next face Northshore Lacrosse Club at Inglemoor High School 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22.
