MIHS Girls Gymnastics Win District 1/2 Championship

Girls gymnasts trump KingCo rivals Mt. Si in the final team standings by less than half-a-point.

The MIHS Gymnastics team narrowly defeated to win the District Championship at Sammamish High School Saturday night.

No Islander won any single event, but consistently high marks from Mercer Island's gymnasts in all the events led to finishing the meet with the highest team score. The top 5 scores on each of the 4 events counts towards the final team total.

Mercer Island scored a team meet total of 153.175, edging out KingCo champs Mount Si, who scored 152.837, by less than 0.4 points. Bainbridge scored 151.075 to get the final slot to the Feb. 18-19 State Championships at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition.
