Seafair Hydro Races Friday through Sunday: Schedule

The Seafair hydro races only roll around once a year, and here they are, Aug. 3-5

Nothing says Seattle summer like hydroplanes at Seafair. The Albert Lee Cup races kick off Friday and run through Sunday, from roughly 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day. Hydro fans can catch the action at Genessee Park on the shore of Lake Washington (for more detailed information about Seafair, visit the event website).

If you want to venture off-island and enjoy the view from Genessee Park, you can avoid parking and traffic chaos by taking the bus. Shuttle service to the Albert Lee Cup races will be provided Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Sound Transit Link light rail’s Othello Station (Martin Luther King Jr. Way and South Othello Street) to Stan Sayres Pit near Genesee Park on Lake Washington. This is the only Metro-operated hydro shuttle this year.

The shuttles are free, running from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Saturday and Sunday shuttle runs are more frequent during peak times than Friday, but the start and finish time remains the same. There are also regular bus routes within walking distance of the race viewing area. Use the online Trip Planner, or call Metro’s Customer Information Office at 206-553-3000 for assistance.

If you are enjoying the festivities from aboard a boat, don't forget there will be , especially for boaters under the influence.

I'll be a bit more direct than Jerry. The new site is a mess. Visually it's extremely cluttered.Read More It's slow, very slow. There appear to be no RSS feeds, a major negative. Following a few links sometimes sends you to a different community's Patch site. And what happened with the editing staff. Unless I missed something, suddenly there are new editors without any warning. No matter what the circumstances, normally such a move would be accompanied by an announcement of some sort. Venice may be the greatest editor ever, but it looks like she is splitting her time among several Patch sites, so the odds are stacked against her. Her "latest activities" list even suggests that she is editing a Patch site down in the San Francisco Bay area. With all due respect, Patch sites should be hyper-local, and the best route to that is a local (i.e. Mercer Islander) editor.
