A Weekend of Fun on Mercer Island: Your Guide to Summer Celebration 2013

Once again Mercer Island's annual Summer Celebration! Festival is almost here, with the theme of "It's Magic."  

This coming weekend, July 13 and 14, the magic will be happening at Mercerdale and Luther Burbank Parks, offering events for all ages and interests, music, a street fair, and a fireworks show starting at dusk on Saturday night.

Of course there will be arts & crafts booths and  a food fair with a variety of fun foods. There is also a 3 on 3 basketball tournament that goes on the entire weekend, the MIVAL Jr. Art Show at Wells-Fargo Bank and then of course there are the fireworks. The most civilized way to watch the fireworks is on the Chamber's Fireworks Cruise. You can watch from the railing of the Celebrations while anchored just off Luther Burbank Park. You'll miss the crowds.

Saturday Events:

Summer Celebration Grand Parade 10 AM Town Center  

FAMILY MAGIC SHOW 11:45 Am & 3 PM

Mercerdale Park Magic and comedy that's fun for the kids as well as the adults! Enjoy this 30-minute magic show featuring one of the country's leading professional magicians. Who knows... you might even get to be a part of the show and do some magic yourself! (different shows presented daily)

Magic Class - 2 PM, Mercerdale Park

You can learn magic too! A professional master magician will teach you how to do magic tricks with ordinary items found around your house. Fool your friends... fool your family... become a full-fledged magician when you participate in this 60-class! (two different classes offered)

Houdini Challenge - 12:40 PM, Mercerdale Park

Master illusionist and escape artist Lance Rich will attempt one of Houdini's greatest challenges... the escape from a regulation strait jacket! This escape attempt put Houdini on the front page of more newspapers than anything else he did in his entire career! Come see if Lance can duplicate the escape just as Houdini did a century ago!

Car Show Details - 10 AM - 3:00 PM, Farmers New World Life Insurance Parking Lot   

Attention Car owners:

Car enthusiasts are invited to enter their classic, antique, exotic, customized, street rod or sports car in this annual "car gathering". There is no entry fee for this non-competitive event! Cars in the "project stage" as well as "finished" condition are encouraged to participate.  And it's free!
