Monster Dream Puppet Show at the Mercer Island Library and More: Play Date!

Fun activities and some sweet deals for the whole family this upcoming week, July 18 – July 25.

July 19: Batty Over Bats Science Workshop at the

  • 2 pm to 2:45 pm
  • For ages four and older
  • Play bat-themed games. Learn the real story about bats and find out why protecting them is important to maintaining a healthy ecosystem. 
  • Cost: Free but pre-registration required online

July 20: Fun Mobile at

  • 1 pm
  • This week come hang out with some big trucks including a fire truck, tractor, dump truck and more. Enjoy some fun safety education activities as well.
  • Cost: Free but donations are always appreciated.

July 22: Adventure Playground at

  • 1 pm to 4 pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday through August
  • For kids ages four to thirteen. Children ages four to six must be accompanied by an adult. Kids ages seven to thirteen may attend without adult supervision. 
  • Every child must have a waiver signed by a parent on file to participate which are available at the program entrance or on the park’s website.
  • Adventure Playground is a one of a kind play area that allows kids to create their own play adventure in the wooded forest of Deane’s Children’s Park, aka "the Dragon Park", adjacent to Island Crest park.
  • Children are provided toolboxes and building supplies and the freedom to create build-it–yourself play structures with the guidance of park staff. 
  • Cost: Free but donations to fund this popular program are always welcome. 

July 24: Monster Dream Puppet Show at the

  • 10:30 am to 11:15 am
  • For families with children of all ages
  • What do monsters dream about? In this exciting and hilarious puppet show by Rowbes Puppet Producations, one little monster decides to follow his dreams. But when his dreams get strange, where will they take him?
  • Cost: Free

July 25: Summer Time Stories for Wonderful Ones at the

  • 10 am to 10:30 am
  • For ages 12 to 23 months with an adult caregiver
  • Enjoy rhymes, stories, music and activities for very young toddlers.
  • Cost: Free

July 25: Summer Stories for Terrific Two’s and Threes at the

  • 11 am to 11:30 am
  • For ages two to three with an adult caregiver
  • Stories, songs, music and fun!
  • Cost: Free

July 25: Listening Mothers Summer Class Begins at

  • 11 am to 12:30 pm (runs eight weeks)
  • For mothers of babies up to six month of age.
  • The Listening Mother Program is a small group program providing unique support and information to mothers of babies up to six months old. The group will meet for eight weeks and is facilitated by a leader.

Free Friend Fridays at the

  • SJCC members can bring a friend for free every Friday in July to work out, take a class or swim in the pool.
