Mercer Island High School freshman and Eagle Scout Max Waller led some fellow scouts recently to help the City with community awareness about pollution entering Lake Washington through Island storm drains. They affixed nearly three dozen additional storm drain markers around the island and conducted outreach efforts.

At the Farmers Market on August 11, Max and Troop 457 hosted a booth (with videos, posters, and flyers) educating citizens on the impacts of storm drain pollution, and describing easy ways to prevent contaminants from flowing into storm drains.Β  Hundreds of local residents visited the booth, and Max has completed his summer Eagle Scout service project.Β Β  Learn more about the City's stormwater program.
