Rotary Pancake Breakfast at Summer Celebration a Success

The local Rotary Club's annual Pancake Breakfast at Summer Celebration donated all proceeds from Sunday's event to the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Food Pantry.

members rolled up their sleeves last Sunday for the annual Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast at as part of the festivities.

From 8 a.m. until noon, volunteer members sizzled bacon and cooked flapjacks and coffee to about 280 visitors who made a $5 donation, raising approximately $1,000. Rotary event "captain" Jim Aitken had several volunteers arrive to set up the outdoor grills, food, tables and chairs at 6:30 a.m. before the morning wind and rain gave way to the noontime sunshine.
