YFS Issues Call for Food Pantry Donations

The Food Pantry served 137 families — a record number — seeking food assistance.

The Mercer Island Food Pantry is low on certain food items, according to a press release from the city's agency.

The community organization requests community donations of the following non-perishable items: boxed cereals, canned fruit and rice/pasta products. The Pantry provides these basic foods to Mercer Island families who need temporary assistance making ends meet.  Last year,.
 
Donations to the Food Pantry are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm at the Luther Burbank Administration Building in , located at 2040 84th Avenue SE.
 
The Food Pantry is a community program of Mercer Island Youth and Family Services, a department of the with services tailored to support every Islander, including counselors in the schools, senior outreach and advocacy, affordable professional counseling, youth development/VOICE, arrested youth and early intervention programs, family assistance and a thriving thrift shop.
